As historic heat roasts the Pacific Northwest, a large fire has erupted in Northern California and continues to grow.
The lightning-caused Lava Fire, burning west of Mount Shasta in interior Northern California, has spread over 13,300 acres of extremely dry vegetation amid gusty winds and record-breaking temperatures. It was just 20 percent contained as of Tuesday morning and had increased dramatically in size.
